Newcastle Jets midfielder Kosta Grozos has been officially named Captain for the 2024/25 Isuzu Ute A-League season, Head Coach Rob Stanton confirmed today. Grozos, 24, will lead the squad alongside newly appointed Vice-Captain Ryan Scott.

Grozos’ leadership was on full display earlier this year, as he captained the team during their Australia Cup campaign and throughout pre-season friendlies. Since joining the Jets in 2021, the dynamic central midfielder has racked up 77 appearances across all competitions, contributing four goals.

Rob Stanton, Newcastle Jets’ Head Coach, expressed his confidence in Grozos’ ability to lead the team through the upcoming campaign:

“I’m very pleased to confirm Kosta as our Captain for the upcoming season. Last year, he demonstrated leadership both on and off the pitch, showing maturity far beyond his years. He has developed into a strong leader and is more than ready to guide us this season.”

Kosta Grozos, elated by his appointment, shared his thoughts on the significance of the role:

“Words can’t describe how much of an honour it is to captain this Club. Newcastle has truly become my home, and I’m committed to giving everything I have on the field while wearing the armband.”

Grozos has quickly become a fan favourite, admired for his composure and dedication, and his leadership will be key as the Newcastle Jets look to make an impact in the upcoming A-League season.
