Fans Invited to Takutai Square and CBD Venues to Support the Black Knights in First A-League Finals Appearance

AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — Auckland FC is calling on the city to rally behind its historic finals campaign, inviting fans to a large-scale public watch party in Takutai Square and nearby bars for their away semi-final clash against Melbourne Victory on Saturday, May 17.

Following their Premier’s Plate triumph, the Black Knights will travel to Australia for the first leg of their semi-final, with kickoff scheduled for 9:35 p.m. NZT. The return leg will be held the following Saturday, May 24, at Go Media Stadium.

The club is teaming up with Tyler Street Sport, The Brit, and Takutai Square to create a multi-location viewing experience for supporters of all ages and preferences. Takutai Square will be the family-friendly centerpiece, boasting a 30-square-meter big screen, DJ entertainment, cage football, lawn games, and merchandise stalls. The festivities begin at 4 p.m., offering plenty of pre-match excitement for fans unable to stay out late.

“This is more than a game—it’s a celebration of what we’ve accomplished and a moment to unite Auckland around football,” said Auckland FC CEO Nick Becker. “Whether you’re a lifelong supporter or new to the club, this is your chance to show up and be part of something special. We are a club for Auckland, and your support makes a huge difference.”

For fans aged 18 and over, Tyler Street Sport will offer a high-energy, sing-and-cheer atmosphere ideal for passionate Port members and vocal supporters, while The Brit provides a more relaxed, sit-down option suited to club members and casual fans.

Admission to all venues is free but ticketed, with capacity limited. Tickets will be available via Eventbrite beginning Monday at noon.

In addition to live coverage of the match, the club will replay key highlights from the season on the big screen—including the unforgettable 6-1 demolition derby—creating a nostalgic build-up to Auckland FC’s biggest test to date.

Merchandise, 2024/25 season memberships, and tickets to the home semi-final at Go Media Stadium will be available for purchase on-site.
