Auckland FC Launches Youth Development Partnership to Strengthen Football Pathways
Auckland FC Unveils Youth Development Club Partnership to Foster Football Talent
Auckland FC has officially launched its Youth Development Club Partnership, an initiative aimed at supporting young football talent and deepening ties with communities throughout the Northern Region Football and WAIBOP Federations. This new program, which includes 15 founding clubs, represents a significant step in Auckland FC’s commitment to building a strong, inclusive football community across the region.
A Commitment to Inclusive Growth in Youth Football
The Youth Development Club Partnership is a landmark initiative, inviting all Talent Development Pathway (TDP) clubs within the Northern and WAIBOP regions to join as official Auckland FC Youth Development Clubs. By signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), these clubs are set to collaborate with Auckland FC to cultivate youth football for both boys and girls, leveraging a shared commitment to growth and inclusivity.
“This partnership isn’t just about developing players; it’s about building a foundation for football excellence across our communities,” stated Terry McFlynn, Auckland FC’s Director of Football. “We’re excited to join forces with these dedicated clubs, creating opportunities that will help young athletes thrive both on and off the field.”
Rebel Sport Development Centre to Elevate Youth Training and Support
In 2025, Auckland FC will expand the partnership with the launch of the Rebel Sport Development Centre, an advanced training facility named in honor of the club’s new partner, Rebel Sport. This center will offer targeted training and resources to players identified in both boys’ and girls’ TDP competitions, allowing them to continue training with their TDP clubs while receiving specialized coaching and skill development from Auckland FC’s top trainers.
“Our model is unique—youth players will have access to top-tier training with us and will return to their clubs with refined skills and a deeper commitment to their teams,” said McFlynn. “We’re already seeing the positive impact, with three players—Blake Callinan, Carlos Ranui, and Codey Phoenix—training with Auckland FC’s first team while remaining loyal to their local clubs. This balance allows them to advance their skills while staying connected to their roots.”
Andrew Scott, COO of Briscoes Group, expressed enthusiasm for Rebel Sport’s involvement. “We are thrilled to support young athletes through the Rebel Sport Youth Development Centre. Sport is a powerful force in our communities, and this partnership enables us to give back by helping young players reach their full potential.”
A Growing Network of Clubs Committed to Football Development
The Youth Development Club Partnership has launched with an impressive lineup of 15 clubs, with discussions ongoing to expand the network. The founding clubs include:
