Melbourne City’s Aziz Behich Handed Proposed Two-Match Suspension

Football Australia’s independent Match Review Panel has recommended a two-match suspension for Melbourne City captain Aziz Behich following an incident in the Melbourne Derby.
Incident Unnoticed During the Match, Cited Post-Game
While the incident went unsanctioned during Saturday night’s heated Melbourne Derby, Behich was later cited for an alleged assault in first-half stoppage time. After reviewing evidence, including a statement from Behich, the Match Review Panel found him guilty of “assault on a player,” citing violent conduct unrelated to a challenge for the ball.

City Given Deadline for Response
Melbourne City now has until 2:00 p.m. tomorrow to decide whether to accept the proposed two-match suspension or appeal the decision by referring it to the independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee.
