BRISBANE, Australia  — Brisbane Roar have secured head coach Alex Smith for the 2025-26 A-League Women’s season following a transformative debut campaign that rewrote the club’s record books.

The 38-year-old tactician guided the Roar to unprecedented offensive heights in 2024-25, smashing its scoring record by netting 46 goals – a 58% increase over the previous benchmark of 29. The season included a historic 8-2 demolition of Western United, the largest margin of victory in club history.

Player Development Breakthroughs

Under Smith’s leadership:

  • Matildas veteran Tameka Yallop recorded a career-high 12 goals

  • Sisters Sharn and Laini Freier earned first Matildas call-ups

  • Five young stars received national youth team selections

“I’m honored to continue building what we started,” Smith said. “Our progress has only strengthened my belief that we’ll return this club to its rightful place. The incredible fan support demands we keep pushing forward.”

Attendance Records Fall

The attacking revolution resonated with fans as Brisbane:
🔹 Led the league in average home attendance
🔹 Set new standalone match record (3,712 vs. Adelaide United)

“The football was irresistible,” said COO Zac Anderson. “We must now convert this momentum into finals football next season.”
