AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — The next stages of the Delivereasy Chatham Cup and Kate Sheppard Cup are set as all qualifying teams have been confirmed following last weekend’s decisive matches.
In the Kate Sheppard Cup quarter-finals (which also serve as semi-finals for the Kelly Cup), Wellington Phoenix secured a 4–1 away win over Waterside Karori, advancing with a commanding performance. Auckland United edged past West Coast Rangers 2–1, while Cashmere claimed a 2–1 victory over Otago University. Eastern Suburbs delivered a statement result, routing Franklin United 8–0 on the road.
Meanwhile, the Chatham Cup spotlight saw several surprise outcomes. Newcomers Fencibles United, fresh off promotion to the Dettol Northern League, upset Western Springs 2–1. Nelson Suburbs locked in a 1–0 away win at Dunedin City Royals. Christchurch United dismantled Wanaka FC 3–0, and Eastern Suburbs took early control in the competition with a 3–1 victory over Manukau United. Additionally, Western Suburbs thrashed Palmerston North United 4–1; Auckland United triumphed 7–1 over Melville United; Birkenhead United shut out Waiheke United 7–0; and Wellington Olympic edged Napier City Rovers 3–2 in an away showdown.
The quarter-final draws for the Chatham Cup and Kate Sheppard Cup semi-finals will be held Tuesday at Keith Hay Park, and will be streamed live on NZ Football’s YouTube channel at 1 p.m.
