Dylan Pierias Reflects on Preseason, New Role, and Life in Adelaide as A-League Season Looms
Adelaide United’s newest recruit, Dylan Pierias, is gearing up for his debut season with the Reds, sharing insights into his preseason preparation, settling into the city, and his evolving role on the pitch. With just days until their A-League opener against Central Coast Mariners, Pierias is confident the team is primed for success.
The extended preseason has been both challenging and rewarding, according to Pierias, who spoke about the team’s intensive preparation.
“Preseason has been really good. It’s been the longest one ever, which can be frustrating, but the coaching staff have done a brilliant job keeping us focused,” Pierias said. “We’ve played 15 matches, with only one week without a game. That’s kept us in top shape. Now, we’re just excited to show what we’ve been working on when the season starts.”
Pierias, who joined Adelaide United this offseason, also touched on how quickly he’s adapted to his new surroundings, both on and off the pitch.
“I’ve settled in really well. The boys welcomed me from day one, and it’s such a tight-knit group. The club has a strong family-oriented culture, which has made the transition seamless,” he shared. “As for my role, I’m pretty versatile.”
A New Position and Flexibility on the Field
Initially signed as a winger, Pierias has found himself transitioning into a new position ahead of the season, filling a spot in the more defensively demanding fullback role. He credits head coach Carl Veart for trusting him with this change.
“I came in as a winger, but when a spot opened up at fullback, Carl asked me to step in. I’ve embraced the challenge and think I’ve adapted well so far,” Pierias said. “Whether it’s fullback, wingback, or winger, I’m happy to play wherever the team needs me.”
Passion for the A-League
Pierias has been a long-time fan of the A-League, and his excitement for the upcoming season is palpable.
“I’ve always been a massive fan of the league. What’s really caught my attention this year is the atmosphere—there’s a real buzz. Seeing Auckland sell out with 26,000 fans was incredible, and the other matches have had great crowds too. It’s exciting to see that level of enthusiasm back in the league,” he commented.
Looking Forward to Playing at Coopers Stadium
Now with Adelaide United, Pierias is eagerly anticipating playing at Coopers Stadium, which he believes boasts the best atmosphere in Australian football.
“Coopers Stadium has always been a special place for me, even when I was on the opposing team. The atmosphere is unmatched, and now that I’m playing for the Reds, I can’t wait to experience that support from the home crowd. The fans here are so passionate,” Pierias said.
Life in Adelaide and Growing Family
Off the field, Pierias has embraced life in Adelaide with his partner, Ella, and their newborn daughter, Ariette. The couple is enjoying both parenthood and their new surroundings.
“My family and I are loving Adelaide. It’s been a special time for us with the arrival of our baby girl, and we couldn’t be happier. Adelaide is a great city, and I’m really enjoying my time here,” Pierias shared.
As the A-League season draws closer, Dylan Pierias is not only ready to make an impact on the pitch but is also relishing his new life in Adelaide.
