Auckland FC has confirmed the departure of Colombian striker Neyder Moreno, closing the chapter on a memorable season in which he became one of the club’s most impactful and admired players.

Moreno, 28, leaves the club by mutual agreement after contributing eight goals and three assists in just 24 matches during Auckland FC’s inaugural season. His performances helped lead the team to the Premier’s Plate, and he will forever be etched in club history—particularly for his unforgettable brace against Wellington Phoenix in the emphatic 6-1 derby victory.

Arriving just a week before the season kickoff on a one-year deal, Moreno quickly endeared himself to fans and teammates alike, earning a reputation as a tireless competitor and a game-changer off the bench.

“With a lump in my throat, but with much gratitude, I say goodbye to the team that has been like a second family to me,” Moreno shared in a heartfelt statement.

“I carry with me great memories, sincere friendships and a deep respect for everyone at Auckland FC. I will always wear the team colours in my heart.”

Head coach Steve Corica praised Moreno’s professionalism and passion, acknowledging his role in the club’s historic debut campaign.

“He is a fantastic player, a great trainer, and I know how much he appreciated the love of the fans,” Corica said.

“He is part of a team that made history and will be remembered with fondness. We wish him and his family all the best for the future.”

As Moreno prepares for his next chapter abroad, Auckland FC and its supporters reflect on his lasting legacy with gratitude and admiration.
