New Zealand Football: A Global Search to Strengthen the Fern
New Zealand Football: A Proud Tradition
Representing your country on the international stage is a dream for any athlete. As New Zealand gears up for upcoming international football and futsal competitions, New Zealand Football is embarking on a global mission to identify every eligible player who can proudly wear the iconic Fern.
Nine National Teams, One Mission
New Zealand Football manages nine national football and futsal teams, including the All Whites, Ford Football Ferns, Men’s U-23, U-20, U-17, Women’s U-20, U-17, Futsal Whites, and Futsal Ferns. These teams compete in prestigious FIFA and OFC tournaments, as well as international friendlies, showcasing the nation’s talent on the world stage. The search for players is critical to sustaining success and ensuring that the best talent represents Aotearoa New Zealand.
Scouting Talent at Home and Abroad
In New Zealand, established systems and processes are in place to discover and monitor emerging talent. The High Performance department plays a key role in nurturing local players to reach their potential.
However, identifying eligible players overseas is a more complex challenge. While the High Performance team actively tracks hundreds of overseas-based players, New Zealand Football recognizes the need for a broader search to uncover hidden talent.
Are You Eligible to Represent the Fern?
