Nicolas Milanovic Hat-Trick Powers Western Sydney Wanderers to 4-1 Victory Over Newcastle Jets

In a sensational display of skill and determination, Nicolas Milanovic netted a hat-trick to lead the Western Sydney Wanderers to a commanding 4-1 win over the Newcastle Jets, snapping a six-game home losing streak. The victory, which took place at CommBank Stadium, marked the Wanderers’ first home win since January and relieved mounting pressure on coach Alen Stajcic after a challenging season start.

Milanovic struck twice in the first half and capped his hat-trick with a second-half penalty, delivering the Wanderers a much-needed boost. The Jets’ sole response came from a penalty converted by captain Kosta Grozos, but it was not enough to stop the Wanderers’ dominant display.

The Jets nearly took an early lead when young midfielder Eli Adams slotted home a close-range finish, only to have his goal ruled offside. Despite this close call, the Wanderers quickly rallied. Milanovic’s initial goal came through a deflected free-kick that wrong-footed Jets keeper Ryan Scott, putting Western Sydney in control. Shortly after, Milanovic capitalized on space in the midfield, firing a powerful shot into the bottom-right corner to give his side a 2-0 lead by half-time.

The second half saw the Wanderers widen their lead further. Just minutes after the restart, Zac Sapsford made it 3-0 with a spectacular shot into the top-left corner, beating Newcastle’s defense with strength and precision.

Newcastle’s glimmer of hope came with Grozos’ penalty after Jeong Tae-wook’s tackle on Clayton Taylor was reviewed and reversed by referee Jack Morgan. Grozos scored confidently to make it 3-1. However, the Jets’ comeback hopes faded when the Wanderers were awarded a second penalty for a challenge on Milanovic in the box. Milanovic stepped up to complete his hat-trick, securing a resounding 4-1 win for the Wanderers.
