Western Sydney Wanderers Welcome Back Lawrence Thomas

The Unite Round in the Isuzu UTE A-League brings a host of key players back into action following the international break. Leading the charge is Western Sydney Wanderers’ captain and Socceroos goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas, who is set to make his season debut in Saturday night’s Sydney Derby against Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium.

Thomas, sidelined since pre-season with an ankle injury, could be pivotal against a Sky Blues outfit boosted by the return of Joe Lolley. The dynamic winger is fit to feature, while a late decision awaits for Brazilian star Douglas Costa, who has been recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in October.

Josh Risdon Set for Season Debut; Tim Payne Sidelined for Phoenix

Josh Risdon returns to Perth Glory’s squad ahead of their Friday night clash with Western United. After missing the season’s start, Risdon’s inclusion strengthens a squad also welcoming back forward David Williams and defender Anas Hamzaoui.

However, Wellington Phoenix will face Melbourne Victory without Tim Payne. The versatile defender sustained a glute injury on international duty, adding to the Nix’s growing injury list.

Perth Glory Squad Highlights:

  • Ins: Josh Risdon, David Williams, Hiroaki Aoyama, Anas Hamzaoui
  • Unavailable: Mustafa Amini, Nikola Mileusnic (both injured)

Western United Squad Highlights:

  • Ins: Ramy Najjarine (returns from injury), Michael Ruhs (promoted)
  • Unavailable: James Donachie, Khoder Kaddour (both injured)
