The Bulls ended their Sky Stadium winless streak in style, earning a hard-fought 1-2 victory against Wellington Phoenix on a gusty Wellington afternoon. This landmark result not only brought the Bulls three crucial points but also showcased their determination and resilience in one of the A-League’s most challenging venues.

Early Lead Sets the Tone

Determined to rewrite history, the Bulls came out of the gates with intensity. Captain Valère Germain wasted no time, finding the net in the 6th minute after being awarded a penalty. Though his initial effort was saved, Germain calmly converted on the rebound to put his team ahead.

Filip Kurto, in goal for the Bulls, delivered a series of impressive saves to keep Wellington at bay during the early exchanges. However, the hosts fought back, and their persistence paid off when Kosta Barbarouses struck a 44th-minute equalizer, leaving the teams locked at 1-1 heading into the break.

Substitutions Spark Second-Half Revival

The second half saw a rejuvenated Bulls lineup, with substitutes Ariath Piol and Dean Bosnjak entering the fray in the 59th minute. Their arrival injected much-needed energy into the side, with Marin Jakoliš creating opportunities that tested the Phoenix defence.

The breakthrough came in the 74th minute when Dean Bosnjak volleyed home a stunning goal, his first in the A-League. The play was expertly orchestrated, with Jakoliš and Piol combining to set up the decisive moment.

Defensive Solidity Seals the Victory

The Bulls’ substitutes continued to shine, with Walter Scott and Liam Rose providing fresh legs and composure in the game’s closing stages. Kurto remained a pivotal figure, producing key saves to deny Wellington any chance of an equaliser.

With a disciplined defensive performance and precise teamwork, the Bulls held firm through the final whistle, celebrating their historic first win at Sky Stadium.
