Perth Glory’s New Base in Mirrabooka Set to Boost Facilities and Community Engagement in 2025

Perth Glory will relocate its operations to Mirrabooka, establishing a comprehensive training and administration hub at Stirling Leisure – Mirrabooka. This development, which includes a five-year lease with a renewal option, will see the club secure advanced training grounds at Mirrabooka Regional Open Space. Backed by a pivotal sponsorship with the City of Stirling, the move represents an investment in both the club’s infrastructure and the local community’s economic growth.

New Centralised Hub Brings Enhanced Training and Administrative Facilities

Perth Glory CEO Anthony Radich spoke to the strategic benefits of centralising the club’s operations. “This new base is a major step forward, enabling us to streamline our administrative and training functions. Having A-League-standard pitches nearby will greatly enhance performance for our A-League Men’s and Women’s teams,” he said.

Radich underscored the club’s commitment to engaging with Mirrabooka’s diverse community, known for its passion for soccer. “The opportunity to work within such a vibrant community excites us. We’re looking forward to adding value to the City of Stirling’s broader plans for Mirrabooka’s growth and development,” he added.

In recognition of the cooperative effort that has gone into the project, Radich thanked the City of Stirling’s leadership and the Western Australian (WA) State Government for their support. “The WA Government has been an invaluable partner in this journey, and we’re grateful for their ongoing commitment to our club and the sport,” he noted.

Financial Backing and Community Initiatives

The WA Government has contributed $1.2 million towards essential upgrades, including new turf, lighting, and changerooms. WA Minister for Sport and Recreation, David Templeman, noted the broader benefits of this collaboration. “We’re proud to support Perth Glory’s new home in Mirrabooka. The partnership will extend to community engagement initiatives like soccer clinics and school outreach programs,” Templeman said.

The City of Stirling has allocated $700,000 in its 2024/25 budget for pitch upgrades, aiming to elevate the facility to A-League standards. The sponsorship also includes plans for community-focused activities such as youth soccer clinics and school visits.

Mayor Mark Irwin shared his excitement over the move, calling it “an honour” for the City. “Perth Glory is a club with a rich history and dedicated fans, and it’s exciting to have them based here,” he said. Reflecting on the club’s temporary home games at Macedonia Park during the 2022-23 season, Irwin added, “The community embraced the club at Macedonia Park, and now, Mirrabooka’s local fans will experience the benefits of having Glory so close.”

Mirrabooka Town Centre: Economic and Social Revitalisation

The establishment of Perth Glory’s headquarters is anticipated to positively impact Mirrabooka Town Centre, an area of revitalisation focus for both the City of Stirling and the WA Government. The City has allocated an additional $1 million in its 2024/25 budget towards the Town Square improvements, featuring enhanced landscaping, a new decking area, and updated amenities. The City has also initiated a tender for an upgraded recreational space at Stirling Leisure – Mirrabooka, which includes a three-court basketball facility adorned with urban artwork.

The ongoing urban development plan aims to attract new businesses, increase accessibility, and activate vacant land within the Mirrabooka precinct. As a part of this vision, two vacant lots on Milldale Way are currently listed for sale, presenting new opportunities for local businesses.

Mirrabooka MLA Meredith Hammat expressed her optimism for the project. “The passion for soccer in our community is remarkable, and I am thrilled Perth Glory is making Mirrabooka its home. With upgraded facilities at the Herb Graham Recreation Centre and Dryandra Reserve, I’m confident the Glory will be warmly welcomed,” she said.
