Phoenix Reserves Seek Redemption in Round 5 of National League
Women’s Reserves Face League’s Top Scorers West Coast Rangers
The Wellington Phoenix women’s reserves will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s heavy defeats when they hit the road for Round 5 of the National League. They will face West Coast Rangers at Fred Taylor Park at 1 PM on Sunday, October 27. Rangers, sitting fifth in the standings, have proven to be an offensive powerhouse, netting 12 goals in just four games. Phoenix will again be missing several key players, as some remain on international duty at the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Men’s Reserves Battle Birkenhead United
Meanwhile, the men’s reserves will be hoping to regain some momentum when they clash with Birkenhead United AFC at Shepherds Park at 3 PM on the same day. Birkenhead, who are currently third on the table, have only lost once this season — to top-of-the-table Auckland City. After a promising start, the Phoenix have slipped down to eighth place and will be eager for a positive result to stop the downward spiral.
U-17 Girls Travel to Waikato
In the youth National League, Wellington Phoenix’s U-17 girls team will head to the Waikato to face Melville United AFC. The match is set for 1 PM on Saturday, October 26, at Gower Park. The girls will be hoping to add to their campaign as they look for consistency in their form.
U-17 Boys Await National Draw
On the boys’ side, the Wellington Phoenix U-17 team has completed the regional phase of the competition in the central region, finishing second. The squad is now awaiting the draw for the national phase as they seek to defend their title and clinch back-to-back national championships.
How to Watch
All senior National League matches will be available to stream live and free on FIFA+, giving fans a front-row seat to all the action as the Wellington Phoenix reserves aim to turn things around this weekend.
