A-League Women’s Unite Round Shifts to Jubilee Stadium Over Safety Concerns

Player Safety Prompts Venue Change for Women’s Showcase

The Wellington Phoenix women’s highly anticipated A-League Women’s Unite Round fixture against Adelaide United has been relocated from its original venue at Leichhardt Oval in Sydney.

Initially scheduled as the opening match of the Unite Round on Friday evening, the fixture—alongside five other weekend games—was moved following a pitch inspection by the Australian Professional Leagues (APL). The review deemed the Leichhardt Oval surface unsuitable for hosting such a critical round of women’s football.

Venue Change for Player Safety and Quality

The APL’s decision to shift all six matches of the Unite Round to Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in Kogarah was made to ensure player safety and maintain the quality of the competition.

“This decision prioritizes the safety of our players and the quality of the product we deliver on the field,” the APL announced. “We regret the inconvenience caused but are confident this move ensures the best experience for teams and fans alike.”

Free Entry for Football Fans

As a goodwill gesture following the late venue change, the APL has announced that all six Unite Round matches will now be free to attend, with no tickets required for entry. This includes matches across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Jubilee Stadium. Fans who had purchased tickets for Leichhardt Oval will be fully refunded.

A Showcase of Women’s Football

The A-League Women’s Unite Round is a celebration of the league’s growth and talent, featuring all teams in action over the course of one weekend. With the move to Jubilee Stadium, the event promises an inclusive atmosphere for fans to support the league’s brightest stars.
